I hope everyone had a good week! Check out the news from Room 11:

Letter names and sounds for next week: B, and review
Sight words this week: And, We, and My
Sight words for next week: review week
The students are keeping up with their sight words and letters and learning to write informative stories. They are encouraged to write about something they know, adding details through their pictures and words. Daily 5 is a favorite activity of the day!
In Math this week the students learned a new work station called Count and Compare Dots. It is a game where the students practice counting on a ten frame and learn about quantity descrimination. The October Number Corner has students learning about patterns, directional vocabulary, and adding one more to a set.
In Environmental Education, the students are learning about the signs of fall and also about migration. They are learning about the habitats of Prairie, Pond, and Woodland through outdoor observations and written records. As the weather becomes cooler, please remember that we will still be going outdoors unless the weather is hazardous. A jacket with a hood or hat, and sturdy shoes are the needs of recent days.
Another Scholastic Book flyer was sent home this week and you can conveniently order books online at a very affordable price. The September shipment was processed and should arrive soon.
An email was sent out about Taekwondo club, Math club, and also a Green Team Campfire event.
On a final note, if you want to come in to the classroom to volunteer, your name has to be on file in the office as having completed the Mandated Reporter training. A few parents still need to do that from our classroom.
Thursday, October 10 will be an Early Release day.
Friday, October 11 and Monday, October 14, there will be no school due to the Columbus Day holiday.
Kroll Farm Field Trip: October 29th. More information will be coming next week
Enjoy your weekend!
