In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

As we welcome the month of March this week, I’m reminded of the way our shift in weather – as well as the time change – can affect our outlook. Warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours always remind us to focus on the strength and energy we get from the sun. With our busy month ahead, we will need that energy more than ever.
We hope you’ve had a chance to read the email sent home yesterday about the Candor Health presentation that is scheduled for Thursday, 3/3. Please let us know if you would prefer that your student not participate in this puberty discussion.
Today is the end of the 2nd trimester. Report cards will be sent home next Friday and sign ups for conferences will be sent home on Friday as well. These conferences are student led, and your students have been busy preparing a digital portfolio about their learning that they are excited to share with you. Please sign up for a time slot. We will hold these conferences over Zoom and you will be given a breakout room to look at your child’s portfolio. The teachers will be moving from room to room throughout the afternoon and evening. If you’d like to speak with a teacher more in-depth, please let us know and we can make other arrangements.
Finally – sorry for the length of this email – we will be administering the Illinois Science Assessment during the week of March 7th (3/7-3/9) and the Illinois Assessment of Readiness during the Week of March 14th (3/15-3/17) and March 21st (3/21-3/23). More details will be provided regarding these tests next week, but please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about the assessments.
