Although the year may be winding down and the ABC Countdown has begun, we are still working hard in our classroom. In social studies, we are talking about the Greek alphabet, Greek society, and Greek Mythology. With so many important contributions from Ancient Greece to study, our social studies classes will be busy and exciting. In fact, today we started doing research on a god, goddess, king, or other important Greek figure. After research is completed, the students will make a class presentation to share their information. Ask your child who they chose for this project!
Students also began research this week for our Service Learning Project (SLP). With the recent water crisis in Flint, Michigan, the 5/6 grade band wanted to address global water issues. We started looking into organizations that work to provide access to clean water for people around the globe. More details to follow, but we are excited to see where this student based initiative will take us.
Farm to Table was another wonderful treat for the kids. From what I saw the Chicken Pot Pie was a huge hit! The hard work our parent volunteers put into Farm to Table continues to amaze us. We also enjoyed an afternoon of presentations by the 8th grade students on their Culminating Projects. The impressive display of ideas and the hard work each student put into their project was inspirational to our 5th graders. Another proud PCCS moment!
