Friday Feature 9/25

We have had another busy week in school. Thanks to our parent volunteers – Mrs. Maier, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Pope  and Mrs. Crow – we put together a great scarecrow based on the character of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. This scarecrow will be entered in the Fall Fest through the Gurnee Park District. If you have a chance to visit the Fest in Viking Park this week-end, be sure to cast your vote for our scarecrow! Voting will take place between 12:00 – 2:30 on Saturday.

We also enjoyed Farm to Table on Wednesday with our guest chef from Cafe Pyrenees. Six students from our class did a wonderful presentation on tomatoes for the 1st and 2nd grade.

In Social Studies, we are working as archaeologists to study the artifacts we excavated from Ms. Stefan’s class. In our Word Study Cafe, we continued to study our spelling words for the week, wrote reflections on our read aloud book, Wonder, or wrote and read independently.
In an effort to support the students in their reading, we are looking for some parents who would be interested in talking with them about books they have finished. More details will follow, but please let us know if you would be able to partner with us in this way. Thank you!
