Despite having Monday off, we have accomplished a lot in our classroom this week. We enjoyed another great Farm to Table on Wednesday, featuring chicken and egg salad and a soup generously made by Mrs. Maier. Many of the kids gave the meal rave reviews! In ELA, we are working hard on our Charley Harper poems and should be writing our first draft by now. These drafts are saved as a document on our Chromebooks, so feel free to ask your students for a sneak peek at their work.
In social studies we reflected on the civil rights movement and the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. What followed was an interesting discussion of race relations in our country today. If you haven’t had an opportunity recently, you may want to talk to your child about his/ her thoughts on this important subject. Our class always amazes us with their mature insights and understanding. We also began our study of Egypt and read about Egypt’s powerful rulers. This extensive unit promises to be very interesting for the class.
In addition to snow pants and boots, please remember to send your child with a hat and gloves for recess. In these cold temperatures, we’ve had several students with cold hands after our 30 minute recess time. Thank you!
