February Turns to March

As February turns to March this week, we will be keeping ourselves busy as always at PCCS. This week we are most excited about our field trip to the Botanic Gardens on Thursday. This is an all day event and we will be eating lunch there, so please remember to send your child with a nut-free lunch that doesn’t need to be microwaved. Also, if your child has a string backpack (or another small sized bag) to carry their lunchbox, that is always a good item to bring.

In science, we are midway through our unit on Earth and the Reasons for the Seasons. We will be doing some graphing and other hands on activities to continue this exploration. In ELA, we will begin presenting our book projects on Wednesday and will also begin work on our portfolios for student led conferences. These conferences will be held on Thursday, March 9th. Please look for an email to come home Monday afternoon directing you to a sign up page for conferences.

As our Six Flags reading program comes to a close, I will be submitting the names of students who have completed at least six hours of reading. I have reading logs for the following students: Alyssa, Ellie, Tom, Isaac E., Owen, and Hailey. If your child brought in a reading log and their name is not yet on the list, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you!

A while ago, our class reached a goal of collectively earning 1,000 Hawks Tickets. As a reward, they decided on a pajama/ stuffed animal/ movie day, which we will do tomorrow (Monday) morning. We will be watching the movie, Lilo and Stitch, and I will bring in a special treat to share with the class during the movie. Should be a fun morning!
