Earth Week

We had a great day at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum today. Not only was the weather beautiful, but we heard an interesting presentation on butterfly conservation, enjoyed some time in the Butterfly Haven, and saw an amazing eco-friendly home. Please see pictures and video below. Tomorrow we will have our 2nd Boot Camp hike in the morning and then we will rotate through all four ⅚ classrooms to learn more about insects and plants.

On Wednesday we will be cooking some Greek recipes with the 6th grade in connection with their study of Ancient Greece. If you would like to donate your time and/or ingredients please use this spreadsheet.

On Thursday Mrs. Neil and Mr. Stewart’s class will be going to the farm to do some more planting. We will also be planting seeds of our own to grow here at school. Please ensure that your child wears appropriate clothing for a walk to the farm and working while we’re there.

On Friday we are hoping to participate in a Prairie Burn. Please click here to provide your child permission to help.

Throughout the week we will also be talking about Tiny Homes in conjunction with our Green Challenge this month of Design Green. If you have any cardboard boxes at home that your child could use (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, gift boxes, etc) to create their own tiny home, please send them to school as soon as possible. Thank you!

We’re looking forward to a great Earth week!
