Before the Break

This week before we leave for winter break promises to be busy! Our 5/6 Holiday Party is scheduled for 11:45 on Friday before Early Release at 1:00. Please contact our room parents, Mrs. Martinek and Mrs. McCormick if you would like to help with the party. Also, please consider joining us for the Winter Sing at 8:30 on Friday morning in the gym. The students have been busy practicing with Ms. Klug, and we are excited to hear them perform on stage!
In ELA this week we will be writing a 2nd draft – at least three pages – of our Personal Narratives and doing some peer editing. The students have chosen a small, but meaningful moment in their lives to write about and many that I’ve read so far are really heartfelt. Ask your child what “moment” they have chosen to share.
In science, we are preparing for a quiz on Tuesday of the first three biomes we’ve covered in class – tundra, taiga, and the deciduous forest. A study guide will be coming home on Monday to review a variety of vocabulary terms and concepts covered in class. This quiz will also cover tree trunk anatomy which we studied last Thursday and Friday. I have encouraged the students to review the notes they have recorded in their ISN as well as the material we’ve read online fromĀ http://www.ducksters.com/
We wish you all a relaxing and restful break! May the time you spend with family and friends – and the time you set aside just for yourself – bring you both happiness and peace.
