Dear Third Grade Families,
Greetings from sunny Oceanside, California! What a wonderful journey we have had. So proud of my bonus kids.
This week is Earth Week and students should plan to be outside for part or all of each day this week! As in the past, third and fourth graders keep track of all their Earth Week activities in an Earth Week Journal. Students will be assessed on their journal at the conclusion of Earth Week. In addition to the journal, students will have a home activity each night. Your child will tell you what his activity is and then you will need to record that it was done in the assignment notebook. We will track completion of the home badges each morning.
Monday: Opening Ceremony, History of Earth Week, Introduction to Superhero theme, and distribution of Earth Week Journals. We will have regular PE.
Tuesday: Clearview Elementary School Book Buddy visit. We will entertain our friends all day with a Scavenger Hunt, a picnic, crafts, and other activities. Look for a separate volunteer sign-up to come through email. We will have PE too.
Wednesday: Early Release Day. Today we will continue to complete the Earth Week Journal and garden. We will have Spanish and Art.
Thursday: This is our Field Trip to Hasting’s Lake Forest Preserve. Be sure to send appropriate clothing and a cold lunch that day. We will leave promptly at 9:00 and return at 2:30.
Friday: We will continue to work on our Earth Week Journals, participate in a ramble around Prairie Crossing, attend the Closing Ceremony, make Earth Week promises, and write Future Letters which I save for next year. Students will attend Music and Art.
Short and sweet this week! See you all back in Illinois on Monday morning, bright and early!
