A Weekend of Shoveling

I hope you’ve had a chance to enjoy this snowy weekend in between the rounds of shoveling outside! After this unexpected three day weekend, we are heading into a short, but busy week. On Monday we will have an assembly to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a Lion Dance performance. Later in the day, the students will have an opportunity to make a Lunar New Year craft. And don’t forget about the Chinese Dumpling event on the evening of February 15th! You can  RSVP here if you and your family would like to attend.

Our science test on Biomes will be this Tuesday and Wednesday. The test has two parts: the first part is an essay question and the second part is a matching/ multiple choice/ fill in the blank format. Study guides were given to both classes on Friday, February 2nd to help students prepare. These study guides will be collected on Tuesday, the day of the test. In ELA, we are finishing our Literature Circle study this week. The final reading assignment for all books will be due on Thursday, February 15th. Please check in with your child to ensure they are keeping up with the reading. Thank you!

We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Wednesday with a PBIS celebration in the gym. Thursday is an Early Release Day and there is no school on Friday for a Teacher’s Inservice Day. School will also be closed on Monday, February 19th in observance of President’s Day.

The end of the trimester is February 23rd, report cards will be sent home on March 2nd, and Student Led Conferences will be held on March 8th and 9th. Conferences are a great time to celebrate the success of your students and inspire them to face their last trimester with confidence and motivation to finish the year strong. They have worked hard and we are so proud of them all!
