Although the storm wasn’t as intense as originally predicted, we got a taste of winter again with the return of snow, ice, and colder temperatures this weekend. We hope you all were able to stay safe and warm.
As Mr. Hurwitz mentioned on Friday, we have a lot going on in 5th grade this month. The NWEA Reading test is this Thursday, 1/16, and NWEA Math is next Tuesday, 1/21. We will also have AIMSweb testing on Wednesday, 1/15 for math and Friday, 1/17 for reading. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding these tests.
The results of our classroom Geography Bee are in. Congratulations to Everett, Grete, Keemy, and Gautham who will advance to the school wide Geography Bee on Tuesday. Good luck to our 5th graders!
In ELA we will begin new spelling sorts on Monday and recognize the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders. Mrs. Neil’s class will have their class Spelling Bee on Thursday and Mr. Hurwitz will have his class Spelling Bee on Friday. Study guides for the bee were sent home last Sunday and have also been added to Google Classroom. In social studies we will focus on our National Park project and begin taking notes in class. Expectations and rubrics will be shared with both classes on Monday. For your reference, I have linked these guidelines below.
