A Festive Month

December is a busy month for many of us – and our many classroom/ school activities are adding to the excitement of the season! The Holiday Bazaar was a big success and the students took many wrapped purchases home with them. I hope you all enjoy the gifts that were thoughtfully chosen for you!
On Tuesday, PCCS will hold the school wide geography bee at 8:15. Soulee Heller and Zane Smith will be representing the 5th grade. Rania Hamid, Mitchell Ross, Zach Smith, and Eshelle Zeeshan – our alternates – will step in if either of our representatives are unable to compete. We wish both Soulee and Zane the best of luck.
In science this week, we will finish our study of the taiga and move on to the deciduous forest in our Biome unit. Tomorrow we will take a closer look at pinecones and later in the week we will investigate the cross section of a tree trunk. In ELA, we are working hard on our personal narratives and preparing for a vocabulary quiz on Friday. Word study and spelling tests will continue as usual.
Looking ahead to next week, please note that we will have our Winter Sing at 8:30 on Friday, December 22nd, followed by our December Marketplace and our 5/6 Holiday Party. We invite you to join us for all of these fun events!
