A Chilly End to October

Although it’s chillier outside now, October activities keep up the enthusiasm and energy level in 5th grade. We will begin the week with both a unit math test and a science test on Natural Resources and Sustainability. We will also have an editing quiz in ELA on Monday and our final spelling test of the trimester on Tuesday. The trimester ends this Friday, November 3rd, and report cards will be sent home on November 10th.
As a reminder, we will have our Halloween party on Tuesday at 2:15. Students can change into costumes at that time. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Martinek, Mrs. McCormick, and their crew of parent volunteers for organizing the Halloween party! We will also hold our 3rd Marketplace on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:00, which should add to our exciting day!
On Wednesday, Mrs. Neil’s class will have a movie morning as a reward for earning over 1,000 Hawk’s Tickets as a class! Their kindness toward others and commitment to the values of PCCS have earned them this treat. Students may wear pajamas on this day, and we will serve popcorn to go along with the movie.

It’s time for the PCCS Second Annual Geography Bee! In November, our classes will hold a classroom Geography Bee to determine a finalist to send to the school-wide competition. Finalists will then compete at our school Geo Bee on Dec 12th. To learn more and help your child prepare, you may wish to use the National Geographic resources, found here. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Turner at rturner@pccharterschool.org. Thank you!

Also in November, we will celebrate Veteran’s Day, and we would love to have your help! Please use this link for more information.

We’ve attached a few pictures below from last Friday when Mrs. Neil’s class planted garlic in one of the 5/6 garden beds. More planting will be done on Monday, and we are looking forward to a bountiful garlic harvest!

Have a great week,

Mrs. Neil and Ms. Bonicontro
