Francine Porembski is thrilled to be working at Prairie Crossing Charter School starting in August, 2022. It is her dream job, at least until she can become an actor. She first attended The University of Dayton in Dayton, OH, where she majored in Elementary Education and then Communications. While there, she worked as a teacher’s aide at the UD Children’s Center for Young Learners. Francine graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Marketing. She was an au pair. She was a computer/remedial teacher at St. Gregory Northside Catholic Academy in Chicago, IL. Francine was a reading group assistant volunteer at St. Gilbert Catholic School in Grayslake, IL. She was also a part-time assistant librarian at Viking Middle School in Gurnee, IL.
In 2016, Francine and her sister, Margie, took a Viking River Cruise on the Rhine River from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam, Netherlands. They passed through Strasbourg, France and Cologne, Germany. The highlight of this trip was touring both the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum. Francine’s favorite movies are: “Casablanca,” “Some Like it Hot,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Her favorite actors are Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Keanu Reeves. Family and friends are very important to Francine and she loves spending time with them, texting with them, talking on the phone with them, and writing letters to them. One of her favorite quotes is “to wishes that come true,” from “The 16 Millimeter Shrine” episode of “The Twilight Zone” by Rod Serling. Her favorite book is Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. Everyone should read it.
