Bernie Lundeen is a 5th/6th grade instructional assistant at Prairie Crossing Charter School. With a background in Marketing and Business Administration from Carthage College and a master’s degree in Biotechnology and Regulatory Compliance from Purdue University, Bernie brings a distinctive skillset to the classroom. With 11 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Bernie has a strong foundation in problem-solving and adaptability. Prior to joining PCCS, Bernie served as a life skills paraprofessional for kindergarten to 2nd grade students.
Inspired by the words of Rachel Carson, Bernie believes that “those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.” Bernie is passionate about incorporating environmental education into the curriculum, allowing students to connect with nature and develop a sense of stewardship for the planet.
With a warm and compassionate approach, Bernie fosters a supportive and inclusive classroom community, encouraging students to explore their full potential as natural leaders. Outside of school, Bernie enjoys spending quality time with her family and actively supporting her daughters’ activities. Bernie’s enthusiasm for learning and environmental education makes her a trusted figure in the lives of her students.
