Laura Hansis has been working as an Instructional Assistant/Paraprofessional for the past eight years. She has always enjoyed working with children and was intrigued by P.C.C.S. commitment to the environment.
She has a Bachelors of Art in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. As a case manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters, she was able to support children and families. Later, she moved to Lake County and had an opportunity to work with adults with special needs. After her daughter was born, Laura was fortunate to stay at home and raise her 2 children. During her time at home, she found herself volunteering at her children’s school and loving it. Mrs. Hansis decision to pursue a career in education may have come late, but she is glad to have the chance to share her passion and skills with kids.
Some of Mrs. Hansis’ favorite activities include house renovations, hiking/walking, paddle boarding, boating, gardening and cooking. Her house has been home to many critters like: turtles, hamsters, fish, frogs, ducklings, and a cat and dog. She claims, “My door is always open to family, friends and apparently, critters.” One of her favorite quotes is from Christopher Robin given to Pooh Bear saying, “ You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” Mrs. Hansis explains, “ I feel this gives kids the courage and confidence they might not see in themselves.”
