Sibby Kruse began working at Prairie Crossing Charter School in 2017 as the hearing itinerant teacher. She graduated many years ago from Illinois State University with a degree in Deaf Education and has worked for 30+ years in the field mainly as an itinerant teacher for deaf and hard of hearing students at various schools throughout Lake County as part of SEDOL She also completed a master’s degree while raising her 3 children. After retiring from full-time teaching, she now works part-time at PCCS and another district to continue her passion of working with hard of hearing students. Her goal is to help them become good self-advocates by learning about their hearing loss and strategies to best listen and learn in school and life. She enjoys the camaraderie here at PCCS and is especially thrilled that her granddaughter is a student here as part of the PCCS family. It’s amazing to see how the environmental philosophy has already bloomed in her. It’s a happy place to be. Away from work she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family including 2 grandkids. Mrs. Kruse’s high school class motto was “keep on truckin”, and she finds that a good life philosophy.
