Demetrios Georgatsos

Position: Board Member

Demetri Georgatsos lives in Grayslake with his wife and two daughters who are both in 3rd grade at PCCS.  Demetri has been a high school English teacher for the past 19 years at Warren Township High School in Gurnee, IL.  He graduated with a BA in Communications and English from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, GO BADGERS!  Upon graduation he worked in the advertising industry, initially as a production assistant on various commercials; then, he eventually became a post-production online editor and edited or assisted on over 200 television commercials in his career.  He became a volunteer basketball coach at Deerfield High School in 1997 working as a varsity assistant coach for the boy’s program. While at DHS, he decided to make a career change and enrolled at National-Louis University to pursue his teaching certificate and an MA in Education.   Demetri teaches Film and Literature, Journalism and American Literature at the Almond campus.  He also serves as the school newspaper advisor at WTHS and has implemented a more robust broadcast journalism component to the school paper.  He has coached at the high school level for 25 years, the last 19 at WTHS.  He currently coaches on both the girl’s golf and softball staff at WTHS.  Working as a coach for 25 years has allowed him to work with students in a different capacity and allowed him to make great relationships over the years with both his players and their parents. During his free time, Demetri loves spending time with his family, golfing, and traveling. His love for travel has brought him to over 20 countries, and many visits to Disney!
