Good afternoon,
It has been another week of achievement in the 6th grade. Shout out to Noel Joseph and Tristan Padilla for representing us at the school-wide Geo Bee this past Tuesday, with Tristan taking home 1st place!
This week, all students had the opportunity to compete in the class-qualifying spelling bee. Good luck to our 6th grade reps at next Thursday’s competition: Serena, Noel, Elliott and Madeline W. Students also completed slideshows on their Nat Geo Global Issue in ELA, and completed research about the development of agriculture in Social Studies.
The annual Kids Heart Challenge has officially begun! As a fun incentive this year, the classroom that has the most students sign-up online will receive recess equipment! Please consider signing up online, using the link here, and including my name as Classroom Teacher.
Finally, the 6th graders will get a feel for preparing Middle Eastern food next week, in alignment with our social studies unit, when they collaborate with Mrs. Flaig and the Farm to Table volunteers to assist with recipes for Wednesday’s meal. This will occur in 20 min rotations over the course of the afternoon, and we are looking for parent volunteers; especially anyone who has experience making falafel!
