Turner Times 4/19/19

Hello everyone,

This week students started a new unit in ELA, our Charley Harper art & poetry unit. Students have been studying figurative language, sound devices, word play, etc. After Earth Week, students will have a chance to put their learning on display by crafting their own poetry portfolio – including digital artwork inspired by nature, in true Charley Harper style.

In social studies, painting of masks has occupied the majority of the week. Please *save the date* for our Wax Museum performance: May 13th. The whole school will be visiting, and parents are also welcome to observe; the specific schedule will be released closer to the day of. For this special event, students may earn up to 5 points of extra credit if they choose to dress up/bring in props (as always, all school rules apply).

Important Dates

  • Mon 4/22: Earth Week Opening Ceremony, 8:15 (students should wear their Earth Week shirt, that was given to them today)

  • Mon 4/22: Peggy Notebaert Field Trip, please send a non-heat & nut-free lunch

  • Wed 4/24: Greek Cooking, 9a-12p (Click here to donate/volunteer; we can’t do it without your partnership. Thank you, in advance!)

Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend.
