Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

We are excited to introduce a new initiative at PCCS, Peace Week. This Tuesday, we will start the week with a school assembly followed by a discussion in ELA about Martin Luther King, Jr., his values, and his important contributions to the Civil Rights movement. Class discussions will continue during the week and center on making choices that are good for ourselves and good for others around us. In preparation for this week, we used our Friday TWAS letter to reflect on three things: good choices we made during the week, choices we would like to change, and an act of kindness noticed during the week (either from ourselves or from someone else). These letters were written in our writing notebook, but do not need to be signed.
With Monday off this week, we will have to postpone our Biomes test until the following week, most likely Tuesday. This will give us more time to study the rainforest and the chaparral before the unit assessment.
We will have our class spelling bee and Farm to Table on Wednesday, and we begin a health unit in PE on Friday. This unit, which runs for 8 weeks, will replace our Friday PE class. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we will still have PE in the gym as scheduled.
