Friday Feature (1/30)

With the layers of ice outside, we have literally been sliding through the week! First and foremost, we congratulate Omar Mahmood and Ashna Chandran who respectively took first place and runner up at our school spelling bee. The competition was exceptional and while all spellers who participated in the bee should be applauded, a special cheer goes out to Omar and Ashna! We also celebrate School Choice Week and we thank each of you for making the choice to send your child to Prairie Crossing Charter School. The next time you’re in the Carson Building, please stop by to see the door decorations made by our students to illustrate the natural and environmental focus of our school.
In ELA we are working hard to improve and revise our first drafts of our Charley Harper poems. In word study, we continue to study our weekly word sorts. Any help you can give your child with spelling words during the week is much appreciated. Weekly lists of words can be found on spellingcity.com/mrsneil and are organized by spelling groups. Please ask your students which group they are in so that you can access the appropriate list. In social studies, the class has been divided into several ancient Egyptian Nomes, or provinces, and have begun working together to create their own unique identity. Our Egyptian unit promises to be an exciting journey!
