Friday Feature (11/6)

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the students, parents, and staff who helped as furniture movers this week. We are loving our new classroom desks and chairs, and we hope you’ll have a chance to stop by our room soon to see our new look! Having two half days this week has made our classroom time busier than ever! We have been looking for text features in ELA, working with our new word sorts in Word Study, and creating handshakes and other greetings for our Early Man unit in social studies.

We are beginning book talks with the class soon. This is an opportunity for each student to share a book with the class they have recently read and enjoyed. With these book talks, we hope to generate lots of excitement for reading as well as provide some suggestions for students who are looking for something new. Thank you for partnering with us and encouraging your child to develop good reading habits at home! Speaking of good reading habits, we are planning to renovate our classroom library to create a collection of books that are appropriate and appealing to our class. We would love to have a team of parent volunteers to assist us with this project! Please see the webpage for more information.
This past Monday we learned about this month’s Green Challenge, “Donate, Don’t Toss.” The students began to brainstorm – with their reading buddies – a list of items from home they and their family are no longer using. Beginning November 16th, everyone is encouraged to bring these items to school as donations for the annual PCCS Holiday Baazar on December 3rd. Donating to other charitable organizations was also highly encouraged. If you personally know of any organization that is looking for specific donations, feel free to pass the name along, and we will happily share it with the class.
