We are excited to welcome your students back after a long weekend which – hopefully – allowed everyone to relax and recharge. This short week will bring our 2nd trimester to an end on the 23rd as we look forward to the fresh start of a new trimester.
In ELA we will wrap up our Literature Circles with a culminating project on the novels we’ve read. We’ll also begin brainstorming some ideas for our persuasive essay on ways we can reach out to others. The conversations started during Peace Week last month will give us a good place to start as we begin planning our essays.
In science, we will dive into photosynthesis after finishing our Biome unit and then it’s on to the water cycle. Most of these science lessons will be taught by Mrs. Flaig as she continues her student teaching experience.
In keeping with our Green Challenge this month to use less electricity, we would like to make energy saving kits available to any interested 5th grade family. These kits were provided by ComEd and contain light bulbs as well as a sink aerator and an energy efficient showerhead. Please see the pictures of the kits below and let me know if you would be interested in one. We have a total of 15 kits to share with our families.
