Naomi has been the environmental educator at PCCS since 2003, and is proud to be involved in such an important educational innovation. Before coming to Prairie Crossing, Naomi taught at the Nature Museum in Chicago for two years. She spent a year working at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN, which is exactly as cold and snowy as it sounds, and a year teaching at Driftwood Nature Center in St. Simon's Island, GA. When she was in high school and college, Naomi spent her summers working camps at Heller Nature Center in Highland Park, IL, where she grew up and began her career in environmental education. Naomi has a BA from Carleton College in MN, a Certificate in Environmental Education from University of MN Duluth, and will complete her MAT from Dominican University in December, 2010.
In her scant free time, Naomi is devoted to local foods and likes gardening, cooking and preserving. She is an avid reader, a sometimes bead-er and gourd-crafter, and a lapsed paddler. Naomi enjoys recording her natural discoveries in writing, drawing and photography on her blog.
