Mr. Smith has been teaching for over a decade now and has been included in Who's Who of American Teachers. He received his BA in History and Elementary Education from Seattle Pacific University and his MATL with an emphasis in elementary reading from Nova Southeastern University. Since 2002, he has been teaching at PCCS. Having taught anything from Kindergarten to 7th Grade, he thoroughly enjoys the challenge of teaching students in the first and second grades. He always looks forward to see what new things will happen in the classroom.
In his spare time, Mr. Smith likes to read, write, play soccer, play basketball, and go on hikes with his wife and two dogs. He has several short stories and novels in the works, and is a published poet.
Mrs. Lori Buesking:
Lori Buesking began as an instructional assistant at PCCS in 2013. Beginning in fall 2014, Mrs. Buesking is working alongside Kelly Smith as an associate teacher with the 1/2 grade team. In this new role, Lori looks forward to teaching for half of the day and instilling a love for learning in the students she will meet. Mrs. Buesking is excited to provide this unique learning environment for the students by sharing the teaching with Mr. Smith. She graduated from Ball State University in May of 2013 as a double major, receiving a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts and a degree in Sculpture with the art department. Lori enjoys reading, traveling, and British shows such as Doctor Who. With her artistic background, she does painting and metal-working. Lori is excited about continuing her teaching career with the students at Prairie Crossing!
