Chris Hershiser has been a teacher at Prairie Crossing Charter School since 2004. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio in 1998, and majored in Ecological Assessment with a minor in mathematics. That fall, he did a graduate internship at the Glen Helen Outdoor School in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Chris interned there for two semesters as a naturalist and as a lead naturalist. In 1999, he went to work at YMCA Camp Kern where he once again worked as a naturalist. In 2000, Chris moved to Keene, New Hampshire and took a job as a teacher assistant in a preschool Headstart program.  It was here that his idea of meshing his naturalist skills and teaching at a school came together for the first time. In 2001, while still working as a teacher assistant he went back to school to acquire a Master’s Degree in teaching at Antioch NE Graduate School in integrated learning. In 2003, he took a job at Bernardston Elementary School as a fifth grade teacher. Fortunately (as it led him to Prairie Crossing) his position was cut due to budget constraints for the following school year. Luckily, a fellow Antioch NE grad and friend Peter Berg took a job at Prairie Crossing Charter School. Chris applied for a position at PCCS and in the summer of 2004, he received the position to work as a teacher. Chris teaches 5th and 6th graders at the charter school.
