Cynthia McGovern came to PCCS in 1999, because she was interested in finding a small school that would allow her to integrate some of the varied teaching methods that she had practiced over many years. The opportunity to teach environmental education made the school even more attractive. She has an M.Ed. from West Texas State University and too many years teaching to count!
She once read a book titled, Do Animals Have Souls?, and she thinks that one idea from this book sums up her relationship with nature. This idea is that most humans report that their most spiritual experience occurred in nature. All students should be at home outside and have the chance to really experience the wonder and energy of nature. Her favorite quote is, “life begins at the end of your comfort zone,” which she tries to help her students embrace.
