Kyle Barber started at PCCS in 2016 as a 5th/6th grade teacher. He came to PCCS with a great interest in the small school setting and the environmental components that define the philosophy of the school. Kyle attended Illinois State University where he studied history, education, and psychology. After graduation, he worked at Glenbrook South High School and Wood Oaks Junior High for a collective five years before arriving at PCCS. Kyle has a fondness and respect for nature that was rooted in his childhood and continues to this day. He believes that it is critical that students be informed about environmental issues and the importance of individuals taking responsibility to help protect our planet. Mr. Barber’s favorite quote is, “To believe with certainty, we must begin by doubting.” His favorite childhood books growing up were the Harry Potter books. They made him excited to read and made him realize there was a lot in the world that he had yet to discover. In high school, his favorite book was Catcher In The Rye. It was the first book he read that felt like he connected with on deeper level because of the lead character Holden Caulfield. He addressed topics that Mr. Barber had never seen in literature and the character’s voice was edgy and captivating.
