Naomi Hershiser

Position: Dean of Sustainability

Naomi D. Hershiser came PCCS in 2003 because she believed that it is important for young people to experience nature on a daily basis and to develop meaningful relationships with the earth. Mrs. Hershiser has a BA from Carleton College, an environmental education certificate from University of Minnesota Duluth, and a MAT from Dominican University.

Mrs. Hershiser’s relationship with nature is based on small daily moments of wonder… watching a dragonfly swoop over the pond, studying the translucent newness of leaves in spring or the roughness of prairie doc… these are the restorative experiences for her that she wants to share with the students and teachers at PCCS. One of the most important thing she has learned while at PCCS is gardening. She didn’t taste something that she had planted and grown herself until she was at PCCS. One of her favorite quotes is “And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair” (Kahlil Gibran). It just reminds her about what’s really important.
