Paige Deringer started at PCCS in 2017 as a Special Education Instructional Assistant. What drew her to PCCS was the creative learning environment and out-of the-box teaching methods utilized to motivate student learning as well as the ability of the teachers to focus on the individual needs of all the students. Paige believes children are very insightful with voices that often go unheard; she likes to be the ears that hear them and encourage them to continue to think creatively and be themselves. Paige graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Economics in 2012 and began working at a law firm right out of college. With teaching always in the back of my mind, she decided to finally pursue her passion for teaching and enroll in a Masters of Elementary Education program in late 2016. Part of her relationship with the environment finds her making a conscious effort to be as environmentally frugal as possible, whether that be through bringing her own bags to the grocery store, recycling whenever possible, or tossing cooking scraps into her compost garden. She believes that even the smallest of actions help and should be encouraged for our future generations. One interesting thing people may not know about Paige is that one day she would like to have a pig farm. Paige’s favorite one sentence quote is “It is what it is, but it will be what you make of it”.
